Who we are and what we build

White Rock Contracting is a general contractor with an office at 300 Ohio Street in Terre Haute. Derek Snyder and Ryan Bolinger own the company. We started White Rock in 2023. Our internal team consists of professional carpenters, painters and other finish-work specialists, led by our project managers, and our crew are professionals at high-end finishes, including tile, millwork and trim. Roofing is handled by our union-trained roofers.

Our work falls into three groups: design/build for the big projects, roofing under our roofing foreman, Timmy Burgess, and contracting for shorter jobs like decks, concrete, flooring and fences.

On every job, we work to the NAHB Residential Construction Performance Guidelines, and everything we build carries a one-year workmanship warranty.

What our work costs

Full kitchen remodels have run $25,000 to $125,000, bathroom remodels $20,000 to $60,000, and residential roofs $10,000 to $105,000. New construction starts at $200 per square foot. Our smaller projects typically start around $10,000.

These numbers come from our own bids and jobs, not a national cost calculator. We don’t price by the square foot, though. Every proposal is built from the actual cost of your job (materials, labor, equipment, permits and overhead), and the new-construction figure is simply what our past bids have worked out to. The pricing page walks through what moves each number.

Three kinds of work

Design/build

For projects that start as a napkin sketch: a commercial build-out, a new home, or a full-gut kitchen or bathroom. We start with an onboarding meeting and a design agreement, work through the layout and selections with our designer partner, pull the permits and build it.

Roofing

Our union-trained roofers handle TPO and Conklin coatings on commercial roofs, subcontract roofing for general contractors on new commercial builds, Brava synthetic slate and shake tile, architectural shingle and metal roofs, repairs and gutters. Inspections are free. After hail, we document the damage and meet your adjuster on site. We never waive deductibles.

Contracting

Shorter jobs, usually one trade or a few working in order: Trex and pressure-treated decks, brushed-finish concrete and epoxy floors, flooring, fences, finish carpentry, and commercial acoustic ceilings, metal stud framing, drywall and FRP panels.

How a project runs

  1. Call or request an estimate — Call (812) 605-2560 or request an estimate online. Doug Stoliby, our sales manager, reaches out within 1 business day to talk through your project.
  2. Site visit or onboarding meeting — Contracting and roof repair jobs start with a site visit. Roof replacements start with satellite measurements of your roof. Design/build projects start with an onboarding meeting and a design agreement.
  3. Scope or design — You get a budget and written scope within 5 business days of a site visit, pricing options and an on-site inspection for a roof replacement, or a design and selections from our designer partner.
  4. Proposal and agreement — One all-inclusive price, e-signed in JobTread and good for 7 days. Permits and sales tax are already built in.
  5. Build, walkthrough, warranty — Your JobTread client portal tracks approvals, change orders and the schedule. We finish with a walkthrough, a punch list and a Notice of Substantial Completion that starts your one-year warranty.

Payment schedules, change orders and our daily site standards are spelled out on how we work.

What a great crew to work with! They worked full, long days until the job was complete. They ran into a couple of issues and handled them with great professionalism and quick solutions. The whole crew provided expert advice and communication. Total bill was very reasonable. White Rock completely exceeded our expectations. I look forward to using them for our next project.

Who we’re not a fit for

We’d rather tell you now than waste your time or ours.

  • The cheapest bid. If price is your only priority we likely aren't the right choice. You can always find a lower number. We price for specific quality materials, professional project management, plans & permits, proper insurance (liability & workers' comp) and livable wages for our crew.
  • Small service calls. We don't take handyman jobs or small general repairs under about 4 hours. Roof repairs are a separate service.
  • Standalone trade work. We don't do standalone HVAC, electrical or plumbing unless it's part of a larger design/build project.

Not sure where your project lands? Call us at (812) 605-2560 and we’ll point you in the right direction.

A note from Derek and Ryan

We started White Rock in 2023 on a simple idea. Most people don’t dread a construction project because of the work itself. They dread the surprises: a price that grows after you sign, a schedule nobody explains, a phone call that never gets returned. We built this company to take those surprises out, and it comes down to two things: quality craftsmanship and clear communication.

Before we start, you get a written scope and one all-inclusive price, with permits and sales tax built in. Every change, however small, is written down and approved by you before we build it. The site gets cleaned up at the end of every day. Your schedule, approvals and inspection results live in your JobTread client portal.

We split the work between us. Derek writes the proposals and runs the office. Ryan has worked in construction his entire life and runs the day-to-day on every job, making sure what gets built matches what was written down. We bring the same project management to a one-week deck as to a six-month build.

If something we built isn’t right, call us. We schedule warranty visits within 7 business days, and we’d rather hear about a problem from you than read about it in a review.

Thank you for considering us. When you reach out, you’ll hear first from Doug Stoliby, our sales manager, within 1 business day, and the two of us stay involved through the final walkthrough.

Common questions

How much does a typical project cost?

Kitchens have run $25,000 to $125,000, bathrooms $20,000 to $60,000 and residential roofs $10,000 to $105,000. Our smaller projects typically start around $10,000. The pricing page explains what moves the number.

Are you licensed, bonded and insured?

Indiana has no statewide general contractor license, so we’re registered with the City of Terre Haute as a general contractor, No. CL003471, and bonded as that registration requires. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance and send a certificate of insurance on request.

How quickly will I hear back?

Within 1 business day. Doug Stoliby, our sales manager, will reach out to talk through your project and set up the next step.

Do you take small repair jobs?

We don’t take handyman calls or general repairs under about 4 hours, and we don’t do standalone HVAC, electrical or plumbing work. Roof repairs are a separate service, and they typically start around $500.

How do payments work?

Short, single-trade jobs are typically billed 75% at signing and 25% on completion. Remodels and design/build projects are 25% at signing, 25% on the first day of work, 25% at rough-in (after the rough-in inspection is completed, or when drywall is ready to begin), 15% at substantial completion and 10% after the punch list. Financing is available through HFS, subject to credit approval.
