Who we are
White Rock Contracting LLC is owned by Derek Snyder and Ryan Bolinger. Derek writes the proposals and runs the office side. Ryan runs the day-to-day work on every project. Doug Stoliby, our sales manager, is the first person you’ll hear from when you call or request an estimate. Our internal team consists of professional carpenters, painters and other finish-work specialists, led by our project managers, and our crew are professionals at high-end finishes, including tile, millwork and trim. Roofing is handled by our union-trained roofers.
We started White Rock in 2023. That makes us a young company, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Many of the people doing the work have been in the trades a lot longer than White Rock has existed. Ryan has worked construction his whole life, starting with jobs before and after high school and then in the carpentry trade. Ask him what he likes about the work and he’ll tell you two things: the culture on this crew, and making people’s homes better.
Derek and Hannah’s story
Derek grew up in Brazil, Indiana. He graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2019 with a degree in chemical engineering. He then served as an active-duty Army officer, with three years at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and one year in Korea.
After that, Derek and his wife, Hannah, moved back home to Indiana. Derek credits Rose-Hulman for how he thinks about design and years on job sites for the contracting itself. He and Hannah have three daughters and live on a small hobby farm in the country. Hannah grew up in Cory and went to Indiana State. She runs our marketing, and her goal is simple: show people what our job sites really look like and what this crew can build.
How we run every job
A fence and a full kitchen remodel are very different jobs, but a few things work the same way on both:
- Written plans. Design/build projects start with an onboarding meeting and a design agreement. Contracting and roof repair jobs get a budget and scope of work within 5 business days of the site visit. Roof replacements start with satellite measurements and pricing options, then an on-site inspection. Either way, you get one all-inclusive price, good for 7 days.
- No handshake changes. Every change, however small, gets a written change order that you approve before the work happens. Each one is priced on its own, so you see the number before we start.
- A clean site every day. We haul off waste daily at our cost, hang ZipWall dust barriers inside, lay plywood to protect lawns and driveways, and run a magnetic sweep for nails.
- One place to look. Approvals, change orders, schedule updates and inspection results all live in your JobTread client portal.
- Somebody answers for it. At the end we walk the job with you, write up a punch list and issue a Notice of Substantial Completion, which starts your one-year workmanship warranty. On full remodels, the last 10% of the payment isn’t due until every punch-list item is done.
You shouldn’t have to call us for a ballpark, so we publish real price ranges on our pricing page. Our smaller projects typically start around $10,000, and financing through HFS is available, subject to credit approval.
What we build

Three kinds of work
- Design/Build: Commercial build-outs, new homes, kitchens and bathrooms. We handle design, permits and construction with our designer partner, so you aren’t juggling subcontractors.
- Roofing: Commercial TPO and Conklin coatings, Brava synthetic tile, shingle and metal roofs, storm damage and gutters. Our union-trained roofers are led by foreman Timmy Burgess, and roof inspections are free.
- Contracting: Pressure-treated and Trex decks, brushed-finish concrete, epoxy floors, flooring, fences, finish carpentry, and commercial acoustic ceilings, metal stud framing, drywall and FRP panels.
Who we’re not a fit for
We’d rather tell you now than waste your time or ours.
- The cheapest bid. If price is your only priority we likely aren't the right choice. You can always find a lower number. We price for specific quality materials, professional project management, plans & permits, proper insurance (liability & workers' comp) and livable wages for our crew.
- Small service calls. We don't take handyman jobs or small general repairs under about 4 hours. Roof repairs are a separate service.
- Standalone trade work. We don't do standalone HVAC, electrical or plumbing unless it's part of a larger design/build project.
Not sure where your project lands? Call us at (812) 605-2560 and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Credentials you can check
- City of Terre Haute Contractor Registration No. CL003471 (General Contractor). Indiana has no statewide general contractor license, so registration is handled locally.
- Bonded, as the City of Terre Haute requires for registration.
- Insured for general liability and workers’ compensation. We’ll send a certificate of insurance on request.
- TrexPro® contractor. Trex lists us in its Find a Builder directory (see our TrexPro profile). Trex’s manufacturer warranties pass through to you, the same as with any Trex deck.
- Union roofing crew.
- NAHB Residential Construction Performance Guidelines. We work to this published standard from the National Association of Home Builders. It sets tolerances for things like floor flatness and drywall cracks.
- Permits and 811. We pull the permits, schedule the inspections and call 811 before we dig.
Where we work
Home base is our office at 300 Ohio Street, Suite E, in Terre Haute. We’re open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Doug reaches out on every new inquiry within 1 business day. We don’t take walk-ins. If you’d like to stop by the office, please call (812) 605-2560 first to make sure we’re there. Otherwise we may be out in the field checking on projects.
We take jobs within about an hour of town. That covers Terre Haute and West Terre Haute, Brazil and Clay City, Sullivan, Clinton, Linton and the rest of the Wabash Valley, plus non-roofing work in nearby Illinois. If you’d like, we’re happy to connect you with a union roofer in Illinois that we trust. Travel is built into the bid price, so there’s no separate trip charge. The full list is on our areas we serve page.
This is home for us. We aren’t a crew passing through after a storm, and we’ll be here when you call about a warranty visit.
